Eddie elected to top post

THE MOUNT Leinster Rangers GAA Club is very proud of the fact that outgoing club chairman Eddie Byrne was elected chairman of the Carlow Co Board at the annual convention in Tinryland GAA clubhouse on Saturday, December 9.

This is a well-deserved honour for Eddie, from Cournellan, Borris a man who has represented his club and county at senior hurling level and was always a hard man to handle at full forward in hurling or football whether in the black and red of MLR or in the county colours.

His election by 35 delegate votes to 29 for John McDermott (O’Hanrahans) provided Eddie with the well-deserved honour of the county chair.

Eddie’s election reflect the enormous amount of work he has put into the GAA both locally and at county level over the past number of years.

The MLR club wish Eddie every success in what is sure to be a very challenging role for him over the coming year.
